Man killed over a Rs. 10 coin in UP

KANPUR: A hotel owner in Mungisapur area of Kanpur Dehat allegedly beat a man to death when he offered him a Rs 10 coin to settle the bill. Family members of the deceased, Mahendra (35), lodged an FIR at Derapur police stationon Tuesday.

According to reports, Mahendra had dinner from Krishna dhaba on Friday. While paying the bill of Rs 160, Mahendra gave a Rs 10 coin, besides notes of other denominations.

“Singh allegedly refused to take the coin saying it was not valid,” a cop said. Singh also attacked him with an iron rod. Mahendra succumbed to injuries on Monday. A case of murder was registered against Singh, who is on the run.
