The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Friday supported the ‘Million March’ called by Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani here on November 7 to counter Prime Minister NarendraModi’s rally in the summer capital that day.

JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik said they intended to hold a parallel rally at historic LalChowk on November 7. But, he said, since a rally has already been announced by Geelani, JKLF has “decided to appeal people to make it successful.”

Geelani called for ‘Million March’ to Tourist Reception Centre grounds.

Malik said if Geelani’s rally is not allowed by the government, people should observe civil curfew and complete shutdown on November 7.

“History is witness to the fact that Indian rulers, and biased Indian media, always attempt to project visits by Indian Prime Minister or other such persons—after using government machinery—as people’s support for India and for legitimizing its illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. These people use these occasions for defaming the freedom movement of Kashmiris and also for concealing the criminal activities of Indian forces in the state,” Malik said in a statement.

He said “India’s puppets in J&K have always deceived people in the name of government jobs, roads, electricity, water, relief and packages.”

“Even freedom, autonomy and self-rule like sugar-coated pills are used to deceive people and bring them to rallies and other government-sponsored programs,” he said.

Malik said as soon as these programs are over, the “Indian rulers, their Kashmiri puppets and biased Indian media start propaganda against Kashmiri freedom movement and use these rallies and other programs for legitimizing illegal occupation of India in Jammu Kashmir.”

He said after the PDP-BJP government came to power, “Kashmir has been turned into a prison where all peaceful political activities have been banned, political space choked and blanket ban imposed on condolence meetings.”

“Despite all these illegal and undemocratic acts, present rulers are crossing all the limits of shame and still talk of so-called transparency and battle of ideas,” he said.

Malik said to make proposed public programs of Prime Minister Modi a success, “Kashmiri puppet rulers have started mobilizing their machinery, government departments, employees, and other things.”

“This is being done to please RSS and implement its communal agenda in Kashmir. Kashmiris are aware of all these conspiracies. To answer these Indian conspiracies and stage-managed dramas, JKLF intended to announce LalChowkChalo program after consulting all stakeholders,” he said. “But since Hurriyat (G) Chairman has announced a program at TRC grounds on the same day and with the same purpose, we appeal people to participate in it.”

“In case rulers choose to stop this TRC rally by force and don’t give permission for it, people should observe a complete shutdown and civil curfew on November 7. People’s voice should be clear that no relief, packages, or other things can halt our fight for freedom,” he said.
